Floral Street's Art Club

Using recycled art materials Floral's Art Club refreshed an older Floral Artwork. The students also made 2014 calendars from used CD covers. I wonder what is next ?  :)

Local artist vista for a day!

Steve Faucher visited Floral Street’s third grade art classes on Thursday October 17th. He spoke about how value structures a painting and is its foundation. He demonstrated this by drawing an apple on a table in various value plans; such as a dark background with a light foreground in contrast to a light background with a dark foreground and other various sequences.
Mr Faucher is a dedicated working artist in our community. He is a graduate of Mass College of Art, Attended School of the Worcester Art Museum and the Cape Cod School of Art.

Welcome Back to a New School Year

Welcome back to a new year of fun learning and exciting art activities! As you know I rely on donations of household items that my budget does not allow for. They are simple things that I can not do without. If you can donate just one item that would be terrific.

Thank you Robert Wilson -art teacher

First Grade Art

I read the popular book 'Snowmen at Night' to the First Graders. They were then asked to illustrate the book. Everyone made incredibly beautiful artwork, as this student's artwork shows.

Summer Enrichment classes

I hope you will register for my two summer enrichment classes this year. Both will be during the week of July 22 - 25. My morning classes is titled, "The most Incredible Drawing Class ever" and my afternoon class is called, "When words and and Art Combine Greatness Happens." I hope to see you there!!

(^L^) Mr. Wilson

Next new projects - teacher's examples

This is the next third grade project showing more control over value by using tints and shades of blue in a monochromatic artwork

These next two artworks are the new fourth grade project. They both show more advanced drawing skills and the beginnings of how to draw portraits. This project also demonstrates knowledge and skills from previous years such as overlapping shapes and shading.

Second Grade Art

This well done abstract city scene by a second grader at Floral Street School shows overlapping poles, arrows and circles. This picture was inspired by a famous painting hanging in Boston's Museum of Fine Art. A fun day would be going to the museum and try to find the original painting :)

Third Grade Art

The idea behind this beautiful artwork showing a field of snow artwork was to mix grays and learn about value changes. Value study is one the essential building blocks of art. Our next project will build upon this knowledge.

Fourth Grade art

This artwork is by Nathan Zhang. The artwork represent an Asian style of drawing mountains and pinecones. Then a Haiku was added to complete the picture. I enjoy the combination of words and artwork together. Do you like that too?

Art Exchange

This picture is the finished artwork by a Floral Fourth Grader on a background received from Tokyo, Japan. On the back of the picture is a friendly letter written to the Japanese Student. THank you Floral PTO for making this project possible

fourth grade art

This artwork  demonstrates ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE, a foundation of drawing. The technique was very new to the students so we used a simple theme. There is much JOY in this picture for sure!

third grade art

This beautiful artwork is the alphabet done in a creative design. The challenge was designing 26 letters then adding artwork to the space in between the letters. The alphabet designs have a warm, friendly feel to them

Second Grade Art

This picture shows overlapping shapes, design and skill at colored pencil techniques along with color mixing. A lot in one picture!
